This is a book about imagination. On each page the author fantasizes about what clouds could be: cotton, exhaust from alien ships, drifting cities, mashed potatoes, whirling wind, cotton candy for giants, ice cream, puffs of smoke from Grandfather’s pipe, a monster, comfy cushions, Father Times’ beard, or dreams.
The pictures are soft, blurred, and dreamy. It would be fun to follow up the reading of this book with cloud watching and your own imaginings.
This book can encourage you and your child to slow down and smell the roses, or in this case, watch the clouds. It can stimulate a discussion on perspective and creativity.
If used in the classroom, it should be followed by a nonfiction book about the actual creation of clouds.
