Who Ate All the Cookie Dough? By Karen Beaumont. Illustrated by Eugene Yelchin.

When Mama kangaroo goes to her baking bowl, she discovers someone has eaten all the cookie dough. So begins a rhythmic and rhyming book similar in style to Eric Carle’s Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?

Lion, Lion,/Do you know/Who ate all the cookie dough?

I don’t know,/It wasn’t me./Maybe Zebra,/Let’s go see….

Kangaroo then questions several young animals, Zebra, Llama, Cheetah, Hippo, Monkey and finally Baby Kangaroo. The culprit is discovered by lifting the apron on kangaroo. Underneath, Baby Kangaroo is licking the baking spoon.

Pictures are big and bright with little to no background. The baby animals show puzzlement, concern, and humor. This book quickly becomes a favorite. Your young child will easily join in “reading” with you.
