This board book has realistic, beautiful full-color page illustrations showing suggestive expression. On the cover, we see a monkey plugging his ears, frowning, and looking to his left.

On the first page, a parrot covers his ears with his wings. “Too loud! squawks the parrot.” The story continues with the rhino, dolphin, elephant, crocodile, and panda. The last illustration is a double page spread of a little boy blowing a toy trumpet. On the back cover, we see a lion wincing and covering his ears.

Even the youngest child will grasp the humor in this book with a little adult assistance. As well as teaching the names of the animals, children will be exposed to interesting synonyms for said: squawks, grumbles, squeaks, groans, snarls, and growls. The book begs to be read aloud in different voices for each animal.

Toddlers will quickly be able to “read” this book alone after hearing it a few times. But why would you want to miss out on the fun?
